Celebrated as the world’s largest public outreach for international awareness on environment, the World Environment Day serves as the primary tool of the United Nations in campaigning for the environment, with over 143 countries and their businesses, private sector, institutions, and stakeholders supporting the advocacy.

The World Environment Day was first celebrated in 1973 by institutionalizing raising awareness on environmental issues such as marine pollution, overpopulation, global warming, sustainable development and wildlife crime.

Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology support this campaign as a primary institution specializing in the education, fisheries and sciences.
