In compliance with National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Memorandum No. 15, s. 2026, the Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST) participated in the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on March 12, 2026, at 3:30 PM. This activity was spearheaded by the College Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Unit.
The activity was conducted to strengthen disaster preparedness and safety awareness among students, faculty, and staff. During the drill, participants practiced the proper โDuck, Cover, and Holdโ procedure and followed the collegeโs established evacuation plans to simulate the appropriate response in the event of an earthquake.
As part of the simulation, mock incidents were incorporated, including scenarios involving injured individuals, persons trapped or stuck inside buildings, and fire outbreak. These situations demonstrated how emergency responders and designated personnel would respond to such incidents. Participants were able to evacuate and respond to the simulated situations within 13 minutes.
