Plans Set for ZSCMST Victoria Campus
An ocular inspection of the ZSCMST Victoria Campus was conducted early Wednesday, March 4, 2026, led by Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST) President Dr. Roy L. Valesco together with several members of the Board of Trustees.
During the inspection, Zamboanga City Councilor Rey Bayuging, who serves as the representative of Senator Loren Legarda, Senate Chair on Higher and Technical Education, to the ZSCMST Board of Trustees, along with private sector representative Mr. Ryan Oliver San Luis, assessed the requirements for establishing academic programs and developing the necessary infrastructure at the campus.
The discussion also focused on securing funds for electrification and other essential utilities to enable the full operation of the Victoria Campus.
President Valesco expressed optimism about the potential implementation of programs such as hatchery operations and other livestock and aquamarine cultivation initiatives, citing the area’s high-quality water resources as a key advantage.
Both Board representatives committed to addressing the identified concerns, particularly the energization of the property and the sourcing of funds for its development.
In 2025, a survey was conducted to identify the courses and programs that could be offered at the ZSCMST Extension in Barangay Victoria. The Victoria Campus spans more than nine hectares of land, which was generously donated to ZSCMST in 2018 by the late entrepreneur Ricardo Marmoleño.
