Officials from the Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology underwent seminar on Republic Act 12009. RA 12009 is the New Government Procurement Act was signed into law by the President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr in 2024.

The 3- day event discussed the new process in the bidding of goods and infrastructure projects, opening of bids, issuances of notices, and monitoring.

The orientation aims to assist government institutions to be more efficient and responsive, ensuring better public spending.

College President, Dr. Roy Valesco; Vice President for Administration and Finance, Dr. Alvin Reyes; Director for Adminsitrative Services, Mr. Roderick Trio; and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Rachel Lauriaga headed the delegation of ZSCMST staff and officials.

The activity was conducted at the Philippine Social Science Office, Quezon City on February 16 to 18, 2026.
