ZSCMST Provides Immediate Aid to Students Surviving M/V Trisha Kirsten 3 Capsizing

Four students from the College of Maritime Education, who were serving as trainees aboard the ill-fated M/V Trisha Kirsten 3, shared their sea capsizing ordeal with ZSCMST President Dr. Roy Valesco on Thursday, January 29, 2026.

After hearing their accounts, Dr. Valesco ordered the immediate release of financial assistance from the Maritime Education Program Parents Foundation, Inc. (MEPPFI) for the affected students, including support for the reapplication of lost documents required for the completion of their training.

Dr. Valesco assured the students that the college is fully prepared to assist them with their other needs. The students will also undergo post-trauma counseling at the school’s guidance office.

ZSCMST remains committed to upholding the welfare and safety of its students at all times.
