The Guidance and Counseling Services of Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST), under the leadership of Ms. Ma. Visitacion S. Emmanuel (Chair, Values Formation and Mental Health Committee) and the Values Formation Facilitators, conducted the Values Formation and Mental Health Program 2025 for faculty members and non-teaching personnel on December 9–11, 2025 at Barcode Resto, Zamboanga City. The three-day activity aimed to strengthen core values, promote emotional well-being, and cultivate a healthier, more resilient workforce in the institution.

On December 9, the College of Maritime Education (CME) participated in the program. This was followed by the faculty members from the College of Teacher Education (CTE) and the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) on December 10. Finally, on December 11, the College of Business and Management (CBM) took part in the activity. They were all joined by the non-teaching personnel.

Dr. Melchor B. Brilliantes, Dean of the Graduate School, delivered an inspiring message emphasizing the importance of well-being in the workplace, saying, “As we gather here, I want to emphasize one simple truth: you are the heart of our institution, and your well-being is our greatest priority. We often hear that we must ‘take care of others first,’ but today, we pause to remember that we cannot pour from an empty cup. Our work – whether in the classroom, the office, the library, or the campus grounds – demands so much of us: patience, dedication, empathy, and resilience. This program is our way of giving back to you – providing space to strengthen the values that guide us, and tools to nurture the mental health that sustains us.”

The Values Formation and Mental Health Program served as a platform for reflection, empowerment, and renewed commitment to personal and professional well-being.
