The Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST), through its Internationalization and Linkages Office, conducted a Benchmarking Activity and Capacity Building on November 11, 2025, at the ZSCMST Conference Room. The activity aimed to strengthen the institution’s capacity for internationalization through shared learning, strategic discussions, and collaboration.

On behalf of College President Dr. Roy L. Valesco, Atty. Ma. Purita S. Arquiza, Executive Assistant emphasized the importance of internationalization in achieving the College’s mission of producing globally competitive graduates, saying, “As an institution, we are firmly committed to producing globally competitive graduates. Internationalization is a key strategy in this pursuit. It strengthens the quality of education, and more importantly, develops our human capital. It allows us to learn from others, broaden our networks, and build on our strengths as we move with purpose toward our goal of universityhood.”

The activity was graced by Dr. Mario R. Obra, Jr., Director of the Quality Management Office, International Relations Office, and External Linkages of Western Mindanao State University (WMSU), who served as the guest speaker.

Dr. Obra shared valuable insights and best practices on Strategic Internationalization Planning, WURI (World University Rankings for Innovation) Application, and other relevant internationalization initiatives. His expertise provided participants with a deeper understanding of how international collaborations can strengthen institutional development and global engagement.
