𝐙𝐒𝐂𝐌𝐒𝐓 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫-𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐥

The Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST) successfully conducted a two-day seminar-workshop on Effective Communication and Writing Skills for Non-Teaching Personnel on May 15–16, 2025, at the Octagon Hall, ZSCMST.

This activity aimed to enhance the communication competencies of non-teaching personnel, focusing on both written and oral communication skills essential for effective workplace interactions. The seminar featured two distinguished resource speakers: Dr. Gefilloyd L. De Castro, Program Adviser of Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies, and Dr. Abee M. Eijansantos, Program Adviser of Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English.

Dr. De Castro delivered sessions on: Types of Communication Letters and Their Functions, Principles of Effective Business and Professional Communication Tone and Formality: Choosing the Right Voice, Common Grammar and Style Mistakes in Letters Pros and Cons of AI Tools in Writing. On the other hand, Dr. Eijansantos facilitated discussions and activities on: Introduction to Oral Communication, Elements of Communication, Verbal and Non-verbal Communication, Principles for Effective Communication, and Public Speaking Fundamentals.

Selected non-teaching personnel from various offices actively participated in the lectures and hands-on sessions. The workshop provided practical tools and knowledge aimed at improving workplace communication, professionalism, and confidence in both written and spoken interactions.
