The Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST) convened a General Assembly on March 17, 2025, at MCLL Gymnasium, ZSCMST, with its newly appointed College President, Dr. Roy L. Valesco. The faculty and staff gathered in this activity, exhibiting support of the institution’s new leadership.

The assembly was graced by Dr. Nelson P. Cabral, University President of Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU). He congratulated ZSCMST for having Dr. Valesco at the helm, emphasizing that the college is fortunate to gain a leader with remarkable work ethics and extensive experience. He highlighted Dr. Valesco’s previous role as Vice President for Academic Affairs at ZPPSU, where he consistently demonstrated dedication to academic excellence and institutional growth.

Dr. Cabral encouraged the ZSCMST community to work collaboratively and maintain unity in their efforts. He expressed that serving as a State University and College (SUC) President is not an easy task, describing it as a demanding responsibility that requires commitment around the clock. With this, he urged faculty and staff to extend their full support to Dr. Valesco.

During the assembly, Dr. Valesco presented his plans for the institution under his initiative called “Operation Genesis.” He introduced ZSCMST’s new slogan and hashtag: Education. Skills. Future. #WeAreZSCMST. As part of his strategic directions, Dr. Valesco outlined key instructions to enhance the college’s programs and facilities. These include ensuring that all academic programs align with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) priority courses, preparing for the opening of the Victoria Campus, implementing renovations to improve school facilities, among others.

The General Assembly served as an opportunity to reinforce the collective responsibility of the ZSCMST community in achieving shared goals under the new leadership. With the strategic plans presented by Dr. Valesco, the institution looks forward to continued progress and success.
