Sea Trial and orientation for two newly procured Research Utility Vessels

The Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST) conducts a Sea Trial and orientation for two newly procured Research Utility Vessels on December 12, 2024, from Paseo del Mar to Sta. Cruz Island. This activity was led by Dr. Alvin C. Reyes, Vice President for Administration and Finance, and attended by 29 teaching and non-teaching personnel.

The sea trial was conducted to ensure the operational readiness of the vessels. The vessel is designed to accommodate up to 15 individuals per trip. The boats were put through various performance assessments, including navigation, speed, and stability. The successful trial affirmed their ability to meet the demands of ZSCMST’s academic and research programs.

In addition to the sea trial, an orientation on the basic usage and operation of the vessels was held specifically for those assigned to operate the vessels. This training ensures that the operators are fully prepared to manage the vessels effectively, prioritizing the safety of passengers and the longevity of the equipment.

This marks a significant milestone for the Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology, reinforcing its commitment to provide quality education and promote innovation in marine sciences.
