ZSCMST Joins Mangrove Planting, Reinforcing Commitment to Environmental Conservation

The Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology actively participated in the Mangrove Planting and Turnover of Enhanced Management Plans of the Central Mangrove Forest and Pasonanca Natural Park-ASEAN Heritage Park today, October 17, 2024, at the Bird Sanctuary, ZSCMST.

A key part of the program was the mangrove planting, which involved esteemed guests from various participating agencies.

Mr. Roderick D. Trio, OIC College President of ZSCMST, warmly welcomed guests and highlighted the College’s commitment to protecting the environment. His speech emphasized the significance of teamwork in safeguarding our natural resources and promoting understanding of the vital role mangroves play in coastal ecosystems.

Present at the event were City Mayor Hon. John M. Dalipe, USAID Philippines Mission Director Mr. Ryan Washburn, OIC Regional Executive Director Dr. Marie Angelique C. Go, Acting City Police Director Col. Kimberly Molitas, along with representatives from City ENRO, faculty, and staff.

This initiative marks a significant step forward in community involvement and environmental protection, reinforcing our shared responsibility to preserve the natural environment for future generations.
