On May 24, 2024, the Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST) marked a significant milestone with its 57th Commencement Ceremony, with the theme “ZSCMST: Braving Higher Education Borders – Connecting Cultures and Creating Futures.” The ceremony celebrated the culmination of years of hard work and dedication from graduates across its four esteemed colleges: the College of Education and Liberal Arts, the College of Management and Technology, the College of Maritime Education, and the College of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, as well as graduate programs within the institution.

Dr. Ethel Agnes P. Valenzuela, esteemed CHED Commissioner and Chairperson designate of ZSCMST, graced the ceremony with her insightful messages and inspiring presence. She imparted wisdom and encouragement to the graduating class as they prepare to embark on their respective journeys beyond academia. In her speech, Dr. Valenzuela emphasized the importance of possessing strong communication skills as they navigate their future workplaces. Furthermore, she highlighted the importance of embodying the core values of the institution. Regardless of what the future holds and even amidst uncertainties, she urged the graduates to keep striving forward, always upholding these core values within themselves.
