The Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST) recently held a momentous event, a turnover ceremony, and thanksgiving in honor of Dr. Jaime G. Jalon. The event took place on May 30, 2024, at the MCLL gymnasium, ZSCMST.

The highlight of the event was the formal turnover of responsibilities from the outgoing President Dr. Jaime G. Jalon to Dr. Danilo P. Corteza, marking a new beginning for ZSCMST. Dr. Jalon entrusted this crucial responsibility to Dr. Corteza, officially appointing him as the officer in charge of the College, to ensure its ongoing success and commitment to excellence.

The event was also an opportunity for the ZSCMST community to bid farewell to Dr. Jaime G. Jalon, acknowledging his significant contributions and leadership during his tenure. Dr. Jalon’s dedication and commitment to the college were recognized and appreciated by all.

Present on this event were the Presidents from sister State Universities and Colleges (SUCs): WMSU President Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena and ZPPSU President Dr. Nelson P. Cabral. Also in attendance were Vice President for Administration and Finance, Dr. Alvin C. Reyes, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension, Dr. Rufa L. Mendez, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services, Mr. Roderick P. Trio, and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Services, Dr. Rachelle Lauriaga, along with the College’s Board of Trustees, College Deans, esteemed guests, faculty, and staff, all coming together to commemorate this significant moment in ZSCMST’s journey.

As the college embarks on leadership under Dr. Corteza, there is a sense of optimism for the future of ZSCMST and its continued commitment to excellence in quality education.
