Together with Dr. Rufa L. Mendez ZSCMST VP for Research Innovation and Extension, Dr. Deo Florence Onda HABs Watch Project Leader, UP MSI, Dr. Oliver D. Tito , Dean of the College of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Kaent Immanuel Uba, Staff MSU Naawan with the representative of Dr. J. Prospero E. De Vera III, also with the representative of the Office of the president Dr. Jaime G. Jalon, Partner SUC Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology has created their own molecular laboratory through the CHED-LAKAS supported project HABs Watch.

Dr. Onda continued, “This will allow local researchers to use molecular methodologies and procedures to produce additional data, which will be helpful for pursuing further research and study on phytoplankton and harmful algae.” This local molecular lab will be among the sites that The HABs Watch Project plans to open soon.
