Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST) President Dr. Roy L. Valesco joined fellow presidents of state universities and colleges (SUCs) during the Affirmation of Compliance and Commitment to Settle the Free Higher Education Deficiency held at the House of Representatives on September 24, 2026.

Led by Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson Shirley C. Agrupis, the activity brought together SUC presidents and representatives to mark the government’s commitment to address validated funding deficiencies incurred in the implementation of Free Higher Education.

As part of the funding commitment, ZSCMST is set to receive ₱22.8 million for its validated Free Higher Education deficiency. The funding will help the College recover costs previously absorbed in providing free tuition and other school fees to eligible students and support the continued implementation of Free Higher Education.
