The Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST) joined the 2026 International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) on September 19 through two cleanup activities held in Zamboanga City.

Various ZSCMST student organizations participated in the city-wide coastal cleanup organized by the City Government of Zamboanga through the Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources (OCENR), joining volunteers from different sectors in clearing coastal areas of litter and other waste. A total of 1,406.4 kg of trash was collected along the boulevard.

Meanwhile, a separate cleanup activity was conducted within the College, covering the CRM Building, Diving Center Building, and Marino Building. Spearheaded by the Fishery Society, the activity collected 129.9 kg of trash from the coastal areas within the College.

Through these efforts, ZSCMST contributes to the collective action for cleaner and healthier coastal communities.
