The Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology formally welcomes more than 7,500 enrolled students to new academic year 2026-2027 Monday, August 3, 2026.

During the flag-raising ceremony, President
Roy L. Valesco, Ph.D., described the opening of classes as one of the most joyous occasions for the State College. It is a time to see friends again, to meet new people and to learn more, and to take another step toward achieving one’s dreams.

Dr. Valesco said, “Never be afraid to ask questions…. Never hesitate to seek help… Never lose your curiosity… Never stop believing in yourself. Education is not about proving that you know everything; it is about discovering how much more you can become. Trust that every step you take today brings you closer to the future God has prepared for you.”
