𝐙𝐒𝐂𝐌𝐒𝐓 𝐊𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐎𝐟𝐟 𝟕𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲

The Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST) officially opened the celebration of its 70th Foundation Anniversary on July 1, 2026, at the ZSCMST Open Grounds.

The celebration commenced with a Thanksgiving Mass at the College Dome, followed by a motorcade, commemorating seven decades of excellence, development, and service.

College President Dr. Roy L. Valesco reflected on the institution’s journey through the years.

“Today is a day to look back and remember our humble beginnings. We honor the foundations laid by those who came before us, proudly carrying the banner they raised. Through the years, ZSCMST has consistently strived for excellence and continuous growth. We have evolved, adapted, and overcome challenges,” Dr. Valesco said.

Serving as the Guest Speaker, District 1 Representative Hon. Katrina “Kat” Chua shared an inspiring message highlighting the vision for the institution’s continued growth and transformation.

“As we celebrate its many achievements, we also recognize the milestone that brings us closer to an even greater dream. One of these is my continuing legislative effort to convert the Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology into the Mindanao University of Marine Sciences and Technology, embodied in House Bill 2621. This initiative represents far more than a change of name. It reflects a bold vision to expand academic excellence, strengthen research and innovation, create greater opportunities for our students, and elevate this institution into a globally competitive university dedicated to the sustainable development of our seas and coastal communities,” she said.

With seven decades of excellence, ZSCMST looks ahead with renewed purpose, committed to advancing quality education and shaping a brighter future for its students.
