The Office of Training and Extension Services, under the Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovation of the Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST), welcomed representatives from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) on March 24, 2026, for an initial visit in line with the proposed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA/MOU) between the two institutions.

The visit marks a significant step toward a meaningful partnership aimed at empowering female Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) through sustainable livelihood and skills development programs. This collaborative initiative will be implemented through various colleges of the institution, including the College of Business and Management, College of Teacher Education, and the College of Fisheries and Allied Sciences. Proposed training areas include fish processing, baking and pastry, front desk services, table skirting, cooking, and other competency-based programs designed to equip participants with practical and income-generating skills.

As an institution committed to its extension mandate, this initiative reflects the College’s dedication to inclusive developmentβ€”recognizing that transformation and empowerment extend beyond the classroom and into diverse communities where opportunities for growth and learning can be strengthened.
