The Master in Maritime Management Program successfully underwent the Regular Monitoring and Evaluation conducted by Dr. Dennis M. Encarnacion, Program Evaluator from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). The activity forms part of CHED’s continuing quality assurance process aimed at ensuring that graduate programs offered by higher education institutions remain compliant with the established policies, standards, and guidelines governing advanced academic programs in the maritime field.
During the visit, Dr. Encarnacion conducted a comprehensive review of the pertinent documents and key program requirements. Among the documents examined were the Faculty Class Program, the approved curriculum, and the qualifications and credentials of the faculty members handling the courses under the Master in Maritime Management Program. In addition, he assessed other important areas of evaluation such as instructional delivery, program implementation, and the availability of supporting academic and administrative documents required to determine the program’s compliance with CHED standards.
The monitoring activity served as an important opportunity for the institution to present its existing academic systems and demonstrate its strong commitment to maintaining quality education, continuous program improvement, and adherence to national academic standards for graduate maritime programs.
Throughout the evaluation, Dr. Encarnacion also provided valuable guidance and recommendations regarding certain documents and requirements that need to be completed and submitted at the soonest possible time due to their urgency and importance in the overall compliance process. His professional insights were highly appreciated by the institution as they contribute significantly to further strengthening the documentation and implementation of the program.
It was also emphasized that Atty. Alinasser A. Yusop- the Director for Curriculum, Planning and Development Office of the College will undertake the final checking of the program alignment to ensure that all components of the Master in Maritime Management Program are fully consistent with the prescribed CHED standards and requirements.
Dr. Encarnacion likewise expressed confidence in the institution, noting that having known ZSCMST’s strong commitment to academic delivery and its ISO-certified quality management system, it is assured that the necessary documents and institutional processes are in place to support the program’s continued compliance and quality implementation.
Following the evaluation, Dr. Rachel Lauriaga, Vice President for Academic Affairs, extended her sincere appreciation to Dr. Encarnacion for his time, guidance, and valuable recommendations during the monitoring process. Dr. Lauriaga also conveyed the gratitude of the College President for the continued support and assistance extended by CHED in ensuring the sustained development, compliance, and quality assurance of the Master in Maritime Management Program.
The institution remains steadfast in its commitment to strengthening its academic offerings and upholding excellence in maritime education.
