The College of Teacher Education (CTE) and the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) conducted an extension activity at Tumaga National High School (TNHS) as part of Project ASCEND: Advancing School Competence through Evidence-based Needs Development.

This activity supports the ongoing Kaagapay sa Teaching-Learning Competencies (Ka-TLC) program, which aims to strengthen the professional development of public school teachers by addressing their instructional and pedagogical needs.

Based on the Electronic Self-Assessment Tool (e-SAT) results of TNHS teachers, the training focused on key development areas such as:

โ€ข Designing lessons that promote higher-order thinking

โ€ข Building schoolโ€“community partnerships

โ€ข Enhancing multilingual proficiency

โ€ข Aligning lessons with MELCs

โ€ข Strengthening reflective practice

โ€ข Improving assessment literacy and feedback

โ€ข Integrating literacy, numeracy, and culturally responsive strategies

Several prepared training sessions will also be conducted in the coming weeks to further support the identified needs of TNHS teachers and sustain their professional development.

This extension activity also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by promoting teacher competence and strengthening collaboration between institutions and public schools.
