The Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST), through the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, conducted a Faculty Development Enhancement Program on July 29โ30, 2025, at Octagon Hall, ZSCMST. The two-day program gathered all faculty members to promote professional growth and instructional innovation, in preparation for the opening of classes.
College President Dr. Roy L. Valesco delivered an inspirational message, emphasizing the vital role of educators in the institution. He stated, โAs faculty members of ZSCMST, you are not merely instructorsโyou are mentors who help shape both intellect and character. You are innovators, rethinking how knowledge is delivered and received. You uphold the standards of academic excellence and integrity. And you serve as ambassadors of our institutionโs mission to provide transformative education.โ
Mr. Alinasser A. Yusop, JD, Head of Gender and Development, delivered a session on โIntegrating Gender and Development (GAD) in Instruction: Toward Gender-Responsive Teaching in ZSCMST.โ Followed by Engr. Ray J. Arcillas, Head of the Knowledge Transfer and Technology Protection Unit, who discussed โCreative Works and Other Intellectual Properties and their Pathways to Faculty Reclassification and SUC Levelling.
Finally, the afternoon session featured a lecture on Research Project Management delivered by Dr. Wilfredo L. Campos from the University of the Philippines.
As ZSCMST prepares for the opening of classes, the institution ensured that its teaching workforce is not only academically equipped but also aligned with the institutionโs values and goals.
