As part of the ongoing celebration of SiyenSaya 2024, Day 4 of the 5-day Coastal Resource Management (CRM) Training was held at the ZSCMST AVR on September 26, 2024. The day was filled with lectures aimed at educating participants on the importance and key components of coastal resource management.
The training began with a rationale and background on the Fisher and Fisheries Profiling conducted in Sibuco, presented by Mr. Rolando E. Pelinggon, Head of the Coastal Resource Management Research Center.
During the morning session, participants presented their Focus Group Discussion (FGD) instruments, which facilitated engaging conversations about local fisheries. This was followed by a workshop focused on Fisheries Profiling, where participants collaborated to deepen their understanding of fisheries management.
In the afternoon, participants presented their outputs from the fisheries profiling activity. Dr. Wilfredo L. Campos of the DOST-NRCP, the resource speaker for this 5-day training session, provided valuable insights during the writeshop, coaching participants on refining and developing their proposals based on earlier sessions. The proposals were then presented to the audience for review and feedback.
The day concluded with impressions from the resource speakers, who commended the participants for their active involvement and the quality of their outputs. Dr. Campos remarked on the importance of initiatives like this in strengthening coastal resource management and emphasized the potential impact of the proposals being developed.
The CRM Training is just one of many activities under SiyenSaya 2024, highlighting the significance of preserving our maritime and archipelagic resources.
