The Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST) officially kicked off ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐บ๐๐๐ 2024: ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ today, September 17, 2024, at the Octagon Hall, ZSCMST. Themed “Kaalaman, Kakayahan, Kabuluhan,” the event, running from September 16 to 28, 2024, in line with the celebration of the 61st Fish Conservation Week and the 25th National Maritime Week.
Dr. Wilfredo L. Campos, RD Leader of the Department of Science and Technology-National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST-NRCP), delivered a presentation on the Institutional Research and Research Leadership Agenda (IRRLA). His talk highlighted the ongoing efforts and vision for advancing marine science and conservation.
The initiative seeks to boost public awareness of fish conservation and marine biodiversity while promoting collaboration among researchers, policymakers, and community stakeholders. It also provides a platform for showcasing recent advancements in marine science and emphasizes the significance of teamwork across different sectors. Participating colleges had the chance to present their research, showcase their achievements, and forge stronger partnerships with other organizations and institutions.
This activity also reflects ZSCMST’s dedication, along with its partners, to preserving marine resources for future generations.
Among the distinguished guests were Mr. Marfy Lita, Project Senior Technical Specialist, DOST-NRCP; Ms. Beverly Mae Dela Cruz, Chair of the Research and Development Management Division, NRCP; Hon. Joel Ventura, Municipal Mayor of Sibuco; Mr. Roderick D. Trio, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services, ZSCMST; Dr. Rachelle L. Lauriaga, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Services, ZSCMST; and Dr. Rufa L. Mendez, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension, ZSCMST; Directors, College Deans, Faculty and Staff. Also present were Representatives from the Office of the City Agriculturist (OCA), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 9(BFAR9), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and the Mampang Seaweeds Planters Association (MASEPLA).
