A significant milestone in partnership and collaboration was formally inked with the Ceremonial Signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Ministry of Trade, Investments, and Tourism-BARMM Basilan Provincial Office and the Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST), through the Zamboanga Peninsula Food Innovation Center (ZamPen FIC) and the College of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (CFMS) – Fisheries Postharvest Technology Department, on August 9, 2024 at the Conference Room, ZSCMST.
One of its goals is to nurture the marine industry to meet market demands and enhance the livelihood of local fisherfolk and related sectors, including micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The focus is on improving post-harvest technology and increasing the competitiveness of local products in both national and international markets.
Another objective of the MOA is the development and implementation of programs designed to provide training, resources, and technical assistance to stakeholders. These initiatives are expected to significantly uplift the local marine industry and associated sectors.
