The Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST) joined the orientation of Bawat Bata Makababasa (BBM) Program on April 28β30, 2025, held at various schools in Zamboanga City.
Our dedicated Alumni and Pre-Service Teachers (PSTs) from the College of Education and Liberal Arts (CELA) volunteered as tutors-to-be and actively participated in the orientation held at Catalina Vda. De Jalon Tumaga Memorial School and Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial High School. The BBM program is an initiative of the Department of Education to address early-grade reading challenges. Meanwhile , this orientation equipped the volunteers with strategies and tools to help every child become a reader.
Following the orientation, tutorial sessions will take place from May 8 to June 6, 2025, scheduled on:
May 8β9, 2025;
May 14β16, 2025;
May 19β23, 2025;
May 26β30, 2025; and
June 2β6, 2025.
Tutorials will be held five days a week (Monday to Friday) for two hours per day, with one tutor assigned per ten learners. This initiative is open to pre-service students, TEI faculty, and members of the TEI wider school community.
Through partnerships like this, ZSCMST remains committed to nation-building and literacy developmentβone child at a time.
