The Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST), headed by OIC College President Roderick Trio, is participating in the 7th National Sardines Industry Congress and Trade Exhibits, hosted by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region IX (BFAR IX). The event is being held from October 23 to 25, 2024, at the KCC Mall de Zamboanga, with the theme “Sardinescape: Sustaining Sardines Seas for Innovation, Collaboration, and Climate Change Adaptation.”

The event was graced by key officials including Zamboanga City Mayor Hon. John Dalipe, Congressman Hon. Khymer Adan Olaso of District I, Zamboanga City, Isidro Velayo Jr., MDM, OIC of BFAR, Ms. Drusila Esther Bayate, Undersecretary for Fisheries at the Department of Agriculture, and Ms. Al-Zath Kunting, Regional Director of BFAR IX.

The congress brings together industry leaders, innovators, and stakeholders to discuss strategies to sustain the sardines industry amid climate change challenges.
